Overview

MCOH Architects was established in 1981 by our Partners, Patrick O'Hora FBEng FIAA MRIAI MRIBA. Conor Finnegan MRIAI, who joined the Practice at its inception, became joint Managing Partner in 1987. MCOH has grown to become one of the leading RIAI Registered Architectural Practices in Ireland with RIAI Conservation and PSDP Accreditation and ISO quality Assurance Certification 9001:2015. Since it's formation MCOH Architects have developed extensive expertise and design capabilities in a wide range of project categories and sizes together with a reputation for producing innovative and award-winning sustainable design solutions for their clients in both the Public and Private Sectors. The Practices Offices + Studio are located in the centre of Portlaoise town in a converted Methodist Church, built in 1798, now known as ‘Oldchurch’. In 1992 the Practice acquired the then derelict building and set about a sensitive and contemporary refurbishment. The Offices and Studio were further enhanced in 2018 and provide a comfortable workplace environment for the Practices’ 20 staff. MCOH’s view of the Design process is that it requires collaboration and is a journey requiring innovation and exploration. We are therefore committed to a sustainable design orientated approach, working in close collaboration with our valued clients, in the public and private sectors, to create spaces and buildings which satisfy, delight and inspire, all of which contribute to ensuring a sustainable future and quality of Architectural Design.
