McLarens Hotels began its very special journey in 1976 and has been offering guests a real world experience of Sri Lanka ever since it opened its doors. Among its offerings are the two very special hotels set in the hilltops of Kandy—the Hotel Topaz and Hotel Tourmaline. The Hotel Topaz—the first “jewel in the Crown of Kandy” is the McLarens’ Group’s heritage venture, and was the pioneering holiday resort of its kind. The property was acquired because of its potential magnificent views of Kandy town, which is set in a lakeside valley surrounded by hills and mountains. Almost a decade later, the group acquired a neighbouring compound on which today the stunning Hotel Tourmaline stands. Between each hotel lies a cozy family-style bungalow known as the Villa Tourmaline, and was the final addition to these popular resorts.
