Overview

Drum’n’bass pioneer MC Conrad remains one of the most respected performers on the scene - and continues to innovate and elevate the musical genre he helped to make into a global phenomenon. Exploding out of 1980s hip-hop and electro, Conrad first embraced early 1990s rave before finding a home in the nascent drum’n’bass scene and forming a legendary partnership with DJ LTJ Bukem. Together they took the seminal sound of Good-Looking Records around the globe - with Conrad’s powerful lyrics embellishing Bukem’s lush soundscapes. As well as their legendary Speed residency at the Milk Bar in London, a foundation stone of the drum’n’bass scene, together they played at pre-eminent club venues such as Ministry of Sound, Cream, Fabric, The End, Space in Ibiza, Melkweg in Amsterdam, Liquid Room in Tokyo and Zouk in Singapore, and many of the world’s most prestigious dance festivals including EDC, Roskilde, Montreux, Exit, Miami Winter Music Conference, Ultra and Coachella. Along the way, they shared the stage with, among many others, Carl Cox, Snoop Dogg, Method Man and Redman, De La Soul, Goldie, Roni Size, Lauren Hill, Herbie Hancock, Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, Jeff Mills, and Derrick May. Unsurprisingly, Conrad also became a sought-after guest MC and vocalist, with DJs and producers such as PFM, Adam F, Blame, PHD, Total Science, Zero T, Makoto, Unglued, LSide, Urban Dawn, Furney, and Paul SG utilizing his lyrical agility to stunning effect. Conrad’s musical curiosity has led him to explore the house and techno scene as well, and his deep-dive 2013 DJing podcast Up on All Fours - under his producer alias Con*Natural - set a benchmark for the format. This has led to further cross-over activity including remixes, recording vocal duties, and audiovisual art displays with established artists such as Kevin Saunderson, Pig&Dan, Abdul Qadim Haqq, Archie Hamilton, and more.
