The Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Rostock is one of the leading demographic research centers in the world. At the MPIDR, researchers from all over the world investigate mortality, fertility, migration and other issues at the forefront of population research. The Institute is headed by its directors Mikko Myrskylä and Emilio Zagheni. The MPIDR is part of the Max Planck Society, the internationally renowned German research society.
