Since 1967, Markland Specialty Engineering Limited has been helping Municipal and Industrial Plants monitor and automate control of water and wastewater treatment, and process slurries. Markland products are used in clarifiers and lagoons (to monitor the interface level of primary, secondary, return-activated and backwash sludge) and in pipelines and tanks (to monitor process slurries). The Sludge Gun® is a handheld, portable Sludge Blanket Level Detector, used to spot-check the interface level of solids in liquids. Automatic Sludge Blanket Level Detectors allow users to program sludge removal pumps to operate only when necessary, allowing sludge density to be optimized and preventing carryover in the de-watering process. Suspended Solids Density Meters monitor slurry and sludge concentrations, helping users optimize polymer/chemical dosing, automate de-sludge pumps, and achieve preferred concentrations before further processing. Automatic Duckbill Sampling Systems help municipal and industrial plants automate composite sampling of tanks, sumps, open channels and sewers. They allow users to monitor process slurries and effluent, and facilitate monitoring for environmental regulatory compliance. They are inherently explosion-proof, and able to move samples up high lifts (more than 24m) and over long runs (over 30m), even in freezing temperatures.
