Overview
The Maritime Museum of San Diego enjoys a worldwide reputation for excellence in restoring, maintaining and operating historic vessels. The museum has one of the world’s finest collections of historic ships, including the world’s oldest active ship Star of India. Our collection of ships and exhibits are available for daily public dockside tours. For guests wanting to get out on the Bay, the museum offers daily 45-minute historic bay tours and weekend 75-minute naval history bay tours that are affordable and educational experiences for general admission ticket customers to add to their visit to the Maritime Museum. The state's official tall ship, the schooner Californian, and Spanish galleon replica San Salvador, are also available for private charters, custom corporate and family group experiences, and public sails most weekends. Private gatherings are hosted year round aboard Museum vessels and may include Star of India, the 1898 steam ferry Berkeley, navy frigate H.M.S. Surprise, and more. As a member of the Maritime Museum of San Diego, you support our preservation and education efforts, and in return receive many benefits! Maritime Museum of San Diego’s award-winning living history programs are designed as a hands-on exploration of history, literature and group problem solving.
