MAAT Textiles creates plant dyed soft goods for your home. All production is done by hand in small batches using natural pigments extracted from avocado, pomegranate, roots, and different wood pulps here in our Brooklyn studio. Full transparency in regards to our production process is imperative to the foundation of our company and will continue to be so as we grow and evolve. Chemical dyes used in most textiles have a dramatically damaging effect on the environment; we prefer slow, natural dying, and bringing back these disappearing techniques. Ma’at is an Egyptian symbol and principle that represents the basic laws of existence, acting as the personification of the balance and stability in the universe. Ma'at calls for unity between the individual, the natural world and society. Ma’at is the inspiration for everything we create and how we produce it. We strive to be thoughtful about what we consume - in, on, and around our bodies.
