Overview

Lopez Link is an online newsletter published by Lopez Group public relations for over 13,000 workforce of the Lopez Group of companies. The Lopez Group is one of the largest and most diverse organizations in the Philippines. It has investments in six publicly listed corporations including those in broadcasting, power generation and power distribution. The Lopez Group has over 50 companies totaling more than 14,000 employees. Given the size and scope of the Lopez Group, the corporate communication team plays a crucial role in reporting the activities of the member companies, ensuring correct information is circulated, clarifying issues, and building employee morale. It is also key in helping the different units and all employees remain aligned to the Lopez Group’s overall vision. The newsletter serves as a “link” between all the Lopez companies and their employees. The idea for a group-wide publication, attributed to the late Eugenio Lopez, Jr. (Lopez Group chairman until his death in 1999), was groundbreaking for a corporate newsletter that assumed the characteristics of a national newspaper catering to a wide-based audience. Most corporate newsletters cater to a single company or a parent company with related business units. Each issue has to be carefully planned to ensure it has something for everyone, without missing out on the core values that need to be shared and shown to be in action in the milieus of the various companies: entrepreneurship, a strong work ethic, nationalism, and teamwork. Since 2006, it was made available for downloading on the Lopez Holdings website, www.lopez-holdings.ph and in March 2009, an online version was launched in a bid to increase access as print copies were limited. The online version, www.lopezlink.ph, also makes Lopez Group news available to a wider audience as stakeholders with internet access are provided with an inside look at the Lopez Group.
