Overview

At Living Well Youth Works, we teach life skills to at-risk teenagers in Frederick, MD free-of-cost. In July 2015, we secured a partnership with The Housing Authority of the City of Frederick to teach life skills to teenagers in their Lucas Village community. Our program leaders teach middle and high school students the basic skills that are required to become productive members of society; concentrating on the topics that are not often taught in K-12 educational settings. We utilize a nationally-recognized curriculum called “Overcoming Obstacles,” which focuses on the following topics: · Responsibility · Stress management · Respect for self and others · Conflict resolution · Teamwork · Planning for a continuing education · Maintaining a positive attitude · Continuing education financial aid options · Time management · Job applications, resumes and interviews · Studying and test-taking techniques · Developing financial responsibility · Problem solving · Techniques for addressing bullying We also recognize the 40 Developmental Assets developed by the Search Institute.
