Overview
Since its inception in 1939 in Williamsport, Pa., Little League has always been a community-based organization, focused on developing future leaders and citizens, through the sports of baseball and softball. With divisions of play for boys and girls from 4 to 16, there is an opportunity for all children to have a Little League experience. A leader in safety, there are 7,000 local Little League programs in more than 80 countries, where children, parents and volunteers come together to support their teams. Little League is headquartered in South Williamsport, Pa., the home of the Little League Baseball World Series and the World of Little League: Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store. There are also five regional offices in the United States (Bristol, Conn.; Warner Robins, Ga.; Whitestown, Ind.; Waco, Texas; San Bernardino, Calif.) and four internationally (Puerto Rico, Canada, Japan, Poland) that provide direct assistance to our local leagues. In addition to providing millions an opportunity to learn the skills of teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship, Little League organizes seven World Series Tournaments. The leader in competitive youth sports, all of Little League World Series Championship Games are broadcast on the ESPN Family of Networks.
