Overview

I have been a practising Nutritionist since 2017 and am passionate about helping people of any age to live their best life. What you eat and drink plays a huge part in your physical and mental wellbeing. Your lifestyle and family history (those pesky genes) can predispose you to certain things and our food intake can determine how these things are expressed in our body and mind. This is one of the reasons I am so invested in helping families to set up healthy mealtimes from the start of life and working with adults to make small incremental changes to their lifestyles. I first started my journey as a Nutritionist with a Bachelor of Health Science (Food and Nutrition) and initially thought I would go on to become a Dietitian with further post-graduate study. After working in the industry for several years I became disillusioned with this as I was seeing client after client given advice that didn’t take their personal circumstances into account. Cooking for others, juggling children, partners, work, stress, social lives and more are all things that need to be taken into account. If it were as easy as being given a list of foods saying what to eat and what not to eat or joining a program then we would all be in peak condition. So I took a step back and decided that as a Nutritionist the most helpful thing to do would be to meet people where they are at and work on individual barriers, rather than imposing what I was taught was best onto them. Through this approach I have enjoyed seeing clients grow and flourish through better understanding of what will fuel their bodies, how to implement changes over time, and to start to form healthier relationships with food.
