Lens R&D B.V. is small Dutch SME focussing on Space grade Commercial Of The Shelf (SCOTS) sales of high reliability Sunsensors for space applications. The products currently on sale stand out by their quality to cost ratio. The analogue fine Sunsensors have been very rigorously qualified through various ESA programs and have shown to be very rigid and radiation tolerant. The high degree of optimisation for volume production ensures a very good quality to cost ratio, repeatability of performance and relatively low cost per unit. Based on proprietary high reliability four quadrant photodiodes, the sensors are very radiation tolerant and rigid enough to be launched on just about any mission without further qualification. Developments ongoing in frame of an ESA Advanced Research (ARTES) program are expected to lead to the first radiation hardened single chip true digital Sunsensor available on the open World market.
