Overview
Operating as the Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta (CPLEA), the Legal Resource Centre of Alberta Ltd. is a non-profit public legal education organization committed to developing effective and innovative ways of creating access to legal information for the public. Our mission: CPLEA creates resources that help people understand their rights and obligations under the law. We strive to improve both access to justice and the quality of justice available to Albertans. The Legal Resource Centre of Alberta Ltd. was incorporated provincially in 1975 as a non-profit company with the mandate “to contribute to, advance and promote the legal knowledge and education of the people of Canada.” It was registered as a charity in 1977 and subscribes to Imagine Canada’s Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code.
