One of the biggest struggles we faced as Muslim youth growing up in the West was being able to relate to our Imams, Islamic school teachers and community leaders. They had excellent intentions to teach us the beautiful message of Islam but the message was lost in transition. We couldn’t understand the way they spoke, dressed and they could not relate to the challenges we faced. Many of us were confused about our identity, culture and of course our religion. And the struggle continues with our youth... In 2013, Leaders Edge Institute was formed. We began renting small community centers and conducted single weekend seminars/workshops to teach the fundamentals of Islam, building an Islamic identity and dealing with social problems. Before we knew it we were filling gyms across the country and being invited by Masjids, Islamic organizations and cities across North America. Class sizes started growing and we reached a class of 150+ students and filled a gym! We knew we had to get this message out to every Muslim kid across the world. In order to fulfill our potential and help every child out we formed an online institute where kids can get access to weekly classes, exclusive video blogs, motivational content and podcasts. Our vision is to strengthen the belief our youth has about Islam by focusing on discussing matters such as atheism, comparative religions and doubts that may come to the minds of teenagers. Leaders Edge Institute gives them the tools they need to build resilience and comfort in practicing Islam. What sets us apart is our ability to connect with the youth through discussing topics that matter to them. Our goal is simple, affordable, quality Islamic education that is relatable, accessible and applicable.
