It all officially began when Lewis Lawless bought his first hot tar kettle in 1951. That’s what he needed to repair and replace built-up roofs for schools and businesses in Jackson and Josephine counties – but technically, it started much earlier, when Lew was renting a house that needed a new roof. He learned how to do it on the spot and struck up a deal with his landlord – the rest, as they say, is history. A kind-hearted man who believes in an honest day’s pay for an honest day’s work, Lew Lawless started his business because the schools needed roofs and he knew how to build them. Simple as that.
