Overview

The Law Office is a Women Business Enterprise (WBE) focused on education law and family law. The Law Office represents New York's Capital District schoolchildren and families in all matters relating to education, including, special education (IDEA), DASA bullying, school discipline, hearings, appeals and federal litigation involving student civil rights (Title II, VI, IX) and toxic torts. As education attorneys, we represent schoolchildren at special education meetings (CSEs) to obtain IEPs and Section 504 Plans for students with disabilities or who are exhibiting school refusal or other issues, before IHOs to address education placement (LRE) and private school tuition reimbursement, and in disciplinary hearings to dispute suspensions and classroom removals. We practice before the Commissioner of Education, and in Family, State and Federal Courts. When necessary to preserve our clients' rights to pursue negligence actions against a school district, we file the Notice of Claim and represent parents and schoolchildren through New York's Municipal Law 50-h proceeding.
