Overview

Kwanele's innovative app gives women and children an easy-to-use tool to report and successfully prosecute crimes involving Gender Based Violence (GBV). In emergency situations, the Kwanele app provides victims with fast access to help, and to a community to stand with them. The app also provides a tool box of resources for use in court cases to help ensure successful conviction rates against perpetrators. Kwanele's Champions are women in the community who staff our call centre, to ensure that every emergency call is attended to by a GBV-trained professional. Additionally, the Kwanele app enables much-needed research into rape culture and behaviour patterns in South African communities, to ensure that Kwanele will be part of a longer-term solution in reducing the levels of GBV in South Africa.
