Overview

Born in 1935, Marc Berthier is a French designer who has largely contributed to the transformation of French design culture. Over the course of a career spanning almost sixty years, he has designed products as well as architecture, as innovative as they are iconic. Today, Marc Berthier has points to make, ideas to defend for industrial creation. In January 2022, he founded a new studio, KVAN x BERTHIER (KxB), in partnership with Mikaela Kvan, a young Danish-American urban planner and multidisciplinary designer. Their vision? To develop a laboratory of creation. This precise and holistic project aims to ‘produce imagination’ and envision works derived from a ‘functional poetics’ that shift perspectives on industrial design to bring positive change to society. The studio KxB brings together a group of young, curious-minded collaborators open to co-creation at all scales. It seeks to collaborate with companies at the forefront of critical change in electronics, lifestyle, architecture, urban systems, service design and technology.
