Overview

The Kutztown Accounting Club exists to promote relationships between students, faculty, and accounting professionals. The goals of the club are: to provide interested students with information on the accounting profession and current opportunities, to prepare them for successful careers, and to send them into the world in as fully equipped accounting professionals. Throughout the semester, the club sponsors lectures from multiple professional speakers, attends various events, and offers opportunities for students to network with local accounting firms. These events and initiatives exist to bridge the gap between classroom learned skills and training, and the business world. Accounting is a part of all businesses and organizations. A well-rounded look at the different opportunities that exist in this ever-changing career is vital to success within it. The Kutztown Accounting Club strives to provide this "look" and to inspire students to pursue all areas within the field. Topics discussed at meetings are relevant to all areas of accounting, including auditing, accounting information systems, cost accounting, the CPA Exam, financial accounting, and tax. A variety of programs exist to prepare individuals for this exam; the club aims to give students the tools and information to prepare for the test and to remove the anxiety associated with it. The Accounting Club has approximately 65 members. Students represent all levels of study, from freshmen to seniors, and a variety of majors in the field of business. Student officers, and faculty advisor Prof. David Wagaman -Associate Professor of Accouting- oversee each meeting. The club meets bi-weekly alternating between Tuesdays and Thursdays, at 11:00 am in DeFran 210. Additional Keywords: Academic Club
