About King Record Co., Ltd. King Record Company Limited was founded in 1931 as the music division of Kodansha Limited, the largest publishing company in Japan. From our head office in Tokyo and 9 sales branch offices located nationwide, we produce and distribute music repertoires from rock, pops, classical, jazz/fusion, world folklore music, traditional music to animation and game music, releasing over 1,200 new titles every year. Our in-house label StarChild is known as the leading animation label for many years and has produced DVD and music soundtracks of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Love Hina, Fruits Basket, Fafner in the azure and many others. We also work on feature films, acquiring productions from around the globe and duly noted for the distribution of Shaw Bros collection and music documentaries. In the recent years, we have developed a strong network in mobile and PC digital music distribution, supplying our masters to music downloading sites adapting to the new musical era. Celebrating our 75th anniversary in 2006, we are looking for partners to build up a strong distribution network of King Record recordings worldwide. At the same time, we continue to look for great music around the world available for licensing in the Japanese market. King International Incorporated was established as a wholly subsidiary of King Record in the end of 1990 to celebrate its 60th anniversary. KII has the exclusive distribution rights with over 200 labels such as harmonia mundi (France), Naive (France), Hanssler (Germany), BIS (Sweden), IRMA (Italy), Rounder (U.S.A.) and Vanguard (U.S.A.)
