Overview
Kesem is a diverse community led by passionate and empathetic college students working to ensure that children facing the challenges of a parent’s cancer have space, connection, and support to rediscover the joys of childhood. Our mission is to support children through and beyond their parent’s cancer with free, fun-filled creative programs and a lasting community. Kesem at the University of Miami was founded in 2007 and supports children in the South Florida community by providing Camp Kesem, a free two-week-long summer camp experience, and year-round Through and Beyond support services. Our chapter is operated by 150 student volunteers and serves 120 campers ages 6-18 per year. Kesem operates at more than 130 chapters coast-to-coast. Its programs and services are all funded by generous donations from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners. Kesem is a federally registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
