Kawan envisions an undergraduate and graduate Pilipino Catholic community that: …is all-inclusive where members are invited to grow in their spiritual lives and understanding of Catholicism from a Pilipino scope. …provides visibility of and support to the Catholic student population at and beyond UCLA. …proactively educates peers about the history of Catholicism in the Philippines. …invites and supports the inclusion of the non-religious. Founded in 2021, Kawan welcomes undergraduates, graduates, and alumni regardless of ethnicity or religion. Part of the University Catholic Center, Kawan fosters a familial and inclusive space for general members to build community and fellowship while they explore their Christian faith through a Pilipino scope. This is accomplished through weekly general meetings and quarterly programming.
