Overview

Climate change poses an existential threat to Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East region. Recognising this, the Kingdom is formulating ambitious strategies to address the cross-sectoral influences of climate change, while proposing efforts that seek to alter the current trajectory of climate change and navigate the nation towards a more sustainable future. The KAUST Climate and Livability Initiative (CLI) will play a central role in identifying, guiding and delivering elements of strategic national importance. The CLI will draw renewed attention and focus to issues of critical relevance to the Kingdom and the larger Middle East region, particularly in terms of potential climate impact and needed adaptation and mitigation efforts.
