Overview

Kaspar Environmental Engineering was formed by Acey Kaspar in the township of Centre Wellington, Ontario with the goal of protecting the environment. In researching this subject matter, he discovered alarming statistics regarding the high percentage of landfill space that was being used for recyclable materials, and learned about the common sources of most of this waste. As it turned out, he found that waste from small and medium sized businesses make up most of the waste in landfills, and 60-90% of this waste could have been diverted to free, eco-friendly waste streams like recycling, composting, and e-waste streams. He set out to design a system to help these businesses understand the current situation, and help them create sustainable waste diversion programs. One of the key problems in maintaining a sustainable workplace system is that it is usually nobody's job to monitor the effectiveness. Many businesses have a handful of recycling bins and very few business owners have the time or resources to understand the effectiveness of that approach and the impact poor waste diversion has on their business. This is precisely why Kaspar Environmental Engineering offers waste diversion program design and ongoing monitoring as part of their services. Kaspar Environmental Engineering offers environmentally friendly "green" janitorial services which helps to cover the cost of setting up the waste diversion program, and also provides a means for ongoing monitoring of the system effectiveness. This program clearly provides waste removal cost savings for business owners while doing something great for the environment. In addition to this, through operational efficiency improvements, janitorial services can be performed in less time, allowing for an immediate 5% savings to be passed along to the business owner. Kaspar Environmental Engineering blends lean manufacturing principles with sustainability engineering to provide efficient, environmentally friendly services which lowers operational costs while taking a load off the environment. Acey Kaspar is a professional engineer of Ontario (P.Eng), and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), with 20 years of experience working in industrial manufacturing facilities. His career path shifted from automotive product design to manufacturing and operations management, including having the responsibility of designing & improving environmental management systems. He is trained in Lean Manufacturing, and applies lean principles to help reduce operational costs.
