Kalea’s story began in 1898 at Gothenburg, Sweden by engineer Knut Anders Larsson, now grown to be one of the world’s oldest and fastest growing manufacturer of elevator. Kalea started this journey by providing electric installations and lifting equipment for the Gothenburg harbor. The name KALEA is abbreviated as Knut Anders Larssons Elektriska Aktiebolag (“Aktiebolag” means “Limited” in swedish) meaning Knut Anders Larssons’s Electric Company Ltd. In 1920, Kalea introduced a new line of business by importing and installing passenger lifts. Development escalated after a decade in 1930 when Kalea started manufacturing its own lifts.
