Johnstown Tomahawks

Overview

The Johnstown Tomahawks are a North American Hockey League (NAHL) organization located in Johnstown, PA. The Tomahawks play in the Cambria County War Memorial Arena, where they aim to bring a fast-paced, elite, gritty, and hard-working style of hockey to Johnstown while also entertaining fans and supporting youth hockey programs. The team is also committed to helping improve the Greater Johnstown community through the Johnstown Tomahawks Foundation (JTF). The JTF not only provides its unique resources and financial support to local charitable organizations, but also implements its own fundraisers, community programs, 50/50 Raffles, and special charity events. Through the JTF, the Tomahawks achieve one of their many goals associated with bringing an elite NAHL hockey team to Johnstown: Giving back to the local region, which has shown the team tremendous support. The NAHL is the only Tier II Junior A league in the country. The Tomahawks franchise relocated to Johnstown in the summer of 2012. The team has origins dating back to the 1996-97 season when it began as the St. Louis Sting. Most recently, the franchise spent six seasons as the Alaska Avalanche before moving to one of the most beloved and storied hockey towns.
