Our Mission at JamworksArt: To create eternally awe inspiring visual objects of wearable art. To create designs that instills feelings of tranquility through light and color. JAMWORKSART® is engaged in the design and marketing of dichroic glass jewelry. Principle objects are Pendants, Earrings and Bracelets. JAMWORKSART currently has two lines, “Jewelry by Jaye” and “Sparkleous”. Jewelry by Jaye is the higher end line and incorporates precious metal mountings, findings and components. The Sparkleous line uses stainless steel, copper or other types of non precious metal for mountings, findings and components. Sparkleous pieces may incorporate resins and glue in the design. Under no circumstances will plated metals ever be used. The primary media is metal oxide coated on a glass substrate (dichroic glass). Manufacturers are U.S. Based businesses and offer a large variety of colors and effects to serve as a basis for a particular design. These manufacturers offer custom color designs as well. Raw materials include fusible glass of varying thickness and hues, precious metal clay, sterling silver, argentium and gold and silver filled wire. Additionally investment for making custom molds is incorporated for casting distinctive and repeatable shapes.</p> The properties of dichroic glass are such that its metal oxide coating will reflect one color of light and transmit the opposite color. The color is based on a principle in physics known as “thin film optics”. Because there are no pigments or dyes in the metal oxide the blending of colors is done through the color additive process which is how stage lighting is used to create various colors of light on theatrical stage. By creatively employing the physical properties of light refraction, beautiful and dramatic colors and effects can be achieved. Through careful documentation the most successful designs may be reproducible. Though the hand made nature of the art guarantees each piece to be unique.
