Overview

It all started in 1968. Till 1968, a National Chemical Laboratory scientist, Mr. Ramrao Jagtap, worked in his garden just as a hobby. His passion and skills in gardening were so good that those exceptionally beautiful roses in his garden started attracting neighboring house owners. Especially the Parsi community in the Pune Cantonment area encouraged this man to sell those cut roses. Mr. Ramrao Jagtap, a renowned chemistry scientist, then decided to turn his hobby into a full-time occupation. And then in 1975, Mr. Ramrao Jagtap along with his wife Chandralekha started a commercial plant nursery. Plants production skills from a husband and acute business sense from a wife established a foundation of a quality business. Hundreds of prizes were won by this business in local flower shows. There was no looking back after that. Soon many family members started taking interest in the business activities. Mr. Ramrao’s sister Meena, and her husband Madhavrao were very helpful. Mr. Ramrao’s elder son Sangram studied horticulture and came 1st to the university. He then underwent extensive training in ornamental horticulture from Israel, Holland, and the USA and then joined the family in 1993. He looked after the production wing. Devendra Jagtap, younger son of Ramrao and Chandralekha Jagtap, followed the tradition. After completing his MBA in Marketing and finance, he took training in retail garden centers in the USA. He came back in 1999 and joined the Jagtap Nursery’s Garden Center. He took the business to new levels with his international exposure and business acumen. Devendra Jagtap’s wife Anuja also joined him and they together handled the retail business. Services like Landscape development and its professional maintenance were the next steps.
