Overview

Founded in 1885, the Jacksonville Humane Society is a local, independent non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. JHS provides care, comfort and compassion to animals in need while engaging hearts, hands and minds of our community to bring about an end to the killing of abandoned and orphaned shelter animals. JHS is proud to partner with local agencies to keep Jacksonville a no kill city. In 2018, JHS provided almost 9,000 homeless pets with shelter and medical care as they waited to find loving homes. The Jacksonville Humane Society's Adoption, Education and Pet Help Center is open 7 days a week for adoption. We also offer low-cost veterinary services, help for pet owners in need, children's education camps, dog training classes, volunteer opportunities and more!
