Overview

Founded by Professor Jacques Marescaux and his team, IRCAD is a one-of-a-kind research and training institute located within the University Hospital of Strasbourg in France. Providing cutting-edge training in minimally invasive surgical techniques to surgeons globally, IRCAD offers on-site and remote training through online masterclasses and its virtual university, WebSurg. In addition, IRCAD is the world's largest training center for robotic surgery, along with comprehensive laparoscopic training. Research is a top priority at IRCAD, as evidenced by its extensive publication record in the field of surgery. The collaborative and diverse teams at IRCAD, consisting of engineers, researchers, and fellows, work together to push the boundaries of technology, particularly in artificial intelligence, for the benefit of patients. With a focus on innovation and strategic partnerships with academic institutions, hospitals, and industry leaders in Europe and the US, IRCAD has developed state-of-the-art surgical training platforms equipped with laparoscopic, endoscopic, and robotic technologies. In less than three decades, IRCAD has emerged as a global leader in minimally invasive surgery, robotics, and medical imaging, driven by Professor Jacques Marescaux's unwavering intuition. As a leading institution, IRCAD's contributions to France's scientific influence are evident in the establishment of mirror institutes worldwide, advancing research and innovation.
