Overview

The International Coalition for Animal Protection is a movement advocating for the negotiation of a new international treaty that addresses the global problem of zoonotic diseases on a global basis by requiring certain minimum standards of state conduct and prohibition/regulation of high-risk activities. The treaty seeks to minimize risk of a new viral pandemic by controlling zoonotic risk through limiting inappropriate human contact with animals with specific and enforceable obligations. The treaty would be the first of its kind to implement the One Health approach to global health, addressing the interconnectedness of and the urgent need to invest in the well-being of animals, humans, and the environment.
