Overview

INSULEUR is an association formed in 2000 and regrouping 29 insular Chambers of Commerce in the EU. It aims to advance a close cooperation between them, to promote common objectives in European level, to solve problems of insular enterprises and to promote innovation, environmental protection and energy practices and actions that are fit to insular and the island’s issues. INSULEUR operates as a non for profit association in seven EU countries and performs common actions and public hearings, in particular in Brussels and in partnership with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), promotes common practices, seminars and capacity building, participates in communicating research activities for multidisciplinary mission-oriented researches, disseminates results, technological transfer and training activities and participates in consultations on European level. It supports the elaboration of an integrated policy for the development of insular regions and closely collaborates in this aim with European institutions as well as with non-governmental organizations to implement this policy, to encourage initiatives, projects and perspectives on the economic development of insular regions in the European Union. The multinational disciplinary and expertise in encapsulating multicultural business practices and add-on complex research projects are put at the disposal of the business thinking of several country systems. INSULEUR’s strategic objective is to contribute to the businesses and enterprises in the medium to long term, of different productive sources especially in the areas of innovation, energy and environment and business practices. It intervenes at European Institutions during the decision-making process, the main objective being to insert the concept of “insularity’ in all European policies in order to provide special policies for European Islands.
