Overview

During the 80s and 90s, it became clear that a Nation can have an abundance of material resources and yet its citizens can be living in poverty. Indeed in many instance in Africa and Asia, vast mineral had only meant suffering and bloodshed. What was lacking was a purposeful leadership and a myopic inability to positively harness the human capital for the good for all. Nigeria had the same problem. So in 1996 three scholars from the University of Nigeria Nsukka founded the Institute of Human and Natural Resources to find answers to these paradox.
