Overview

“Leadership“ can be defined as the the ability to solve socially relevant problems: Leadership demands that people are led towards clearly defined objectives and that they are given support in reaching them. Leadership is not an innate talent but one which can be specifically trained. Leadership responsibility, competence in solving problems, and entrepreneurship can be both taught and learnt. The Institute for Leadership Development (ILD) helps individuals and organisations in this learning process. The ILD resists two modern tendencies: ethical relativism and the disapproval of elites The ILD wants to oppose ethical relativism not with dogmas or conventions but with rationally justifiable moral standards. Due to their special abilities and unique position elites in politics, industry and commerce, in the cultural and academic sectors bear special responsibility for this. This is not only relevant for German society but, because such elites act as “global players“, for the world community also. The acceptance of this responsibility is the basis for all ILD services and programmes: · Training · Consulting · Research · Projectmanagement. The ILD's services are aimed both at people who already experience leadership responsibility and at those who are on their way towards assuming leading positions in various occupational fields, whether they be within public life, political organisations, non-profit-organisations, or private industry. The ILD also offers scholarship programmes for young people who have already distinguished themselves by exceptional achievement and initiative.
