Overview

IWES (INGINE Wave Energy Systems ltd) was established on September 2016 in Scotland (at Forss energy park in Caithness). We provide onshore-type Wave Energy Converter (WEC) called "INWave" which is suitable for shoreline and remote islands. IWES’s business goal is to offer the world’s first affordable wave energy converter, with this Simple, Scalable & Sustainable technology. The technology has been proven feasible already at prototype demonstration level in Jeju island, South Korea since 2015. IWES secured Seal of Excellence award by European Commission, scoring high-quality innovative ocean energy systems potentially to deploy across all over the Atlantic Ocean coasts. Compared with other offshore-based, capital-intensive and time-consuming wave projects, we provides the unique approach of: (i) deploying power generation device and related electric equipment onshore, (ii) harvesting wave energy from the shallow nearshore water, and (iii) using the whole range of wave movements. It can be easily installed on land (e.g., breakwater barriers), thereby ensuring durability, safety and affordability. This reduces costs and time, enabling sustainable supply for the smaller scale local market needs. With the proper technological development and project deployment, Wave energy is the type of ocean energy with the highest deployment potential in EU waters (30 times higher than Tidal), whose estimated maximum potential in the EU-27 is up to 16 GW by 2030. In the longer term, IWES ambition is to deploy totally 5 GW throughout the world by 2050, starting from Scottish isles to the Atlantic Ocean coasts of Europe and Africa. IWES based in United Kingdom, is developing business projects in Vietnam, Indonesia, Nigeria, Morocco and France at the moment.
