Overview
The Independent School of Jakarta will offer the international and local community of Jakarta an exceptional UK-style independent school education. Opening in September 2021, the school will initially cater for children aged 2 – 8 (Nursery to Year 4) and grow incrementally thereafter to mirror the structure of 2-18 independent schools in the UK. At a later stage the school will expand to a Senior School campus. Building on traditions found in successful British independent schools, we will bring modern teaching practice to bear. We will measure ourselves not simply against other schools in our city but rather against standards found in leading independent schools in the UK and around the world. We are thoughtful about our international location and diverse pupil body and will make appropriate adaptations to our educational provision. We believe that School should be fun and is an end in itself. We understand that confident, happy children who enjoy their time at school are more likely to succeed at school and in life. The Independent School of Jakarta will provide: - a premium, diverse British curriculum in an international context - academic excellence for all - outstanding pastoral care and opportunities for the development of character - a broad range of co-curricular activities as part of a fulfilling, extended school day Strong academic achievement is at the core of our mission. Starting with a focus on numeracy and literacy in younger pupils and broadening as pupils become older, we encourage and support pupils to achieve to a high level. Excellent academic results and entry to well-regarded universities around the world are expected. The Independent School of Jakarta is a new school development as part of The Schools Development Foundation. The Foundation supports the expansion of exceptional education around the world.
