While development aid from developed countries has increased by 66 percent between 2000 and 2014, a number of humanitarian crises, caused by conflicts and natural disasters, have continued to require financial resources and assistance. Many countries also need development aid to promote their growth and trade. The world today is more closely connected than ever before. Better access to technology and knowledge is an important way to share ideas and promote innovation. Coordinated policies that will help developing countries settle their debts, as well as increase investment in the least developed countries, are crucial to achieving sustainable growth and development. Effective public partnerships, public-private partnerships and civil society partnerships, based on partnerships' experience and resource strategies, must be encouraged and promoted.
