Overview
ILIAKTIDA is a social institution, non-profit civil partnership, based in Mytilene. ILIAKTIDA’s main aim is to lift the blockade of disabled and vulnerable population groups, through labor occupation and consultancy. ILIAKTIDA was founded in 1999 and her field of action and activities is the area of Lesvos and the town of Mytilini. The last year, ILIAKTIDA is expanding her operations in the Northern Part of Greece. In total, more than 18 programs and actions were undertaken and successfully completed, until now, regarding social integration and support of vulnerable groups. ILIAKTIDA’s achievements and accomplishments are widely recognized and respected, both on a local, national and international level. ILIAKTIDA won the EESC Civil Society Prize on 2016, for all her actions taken in order to “get refugees out of camps, accommodate them into local guesthouses and apartments and integrate them into local communities”. As experience is gained every day, ILIAKTIDAs capacity is building up rapidly, rendering the organization more and more competent and reliable to undertake demanding projects.
