Overview

Sriwijaya University (UNSRI) is one of the well-known State Universities in Sumatra, Indonesia precisely in South Sumatra Province, UNSRI is also the most favorite PTN in the selection of SNMPTN and SBMPTN. UNSRI has 2 main campus locations namely in Palembang City and in Indralaya City, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia, established on October 29, 1960. The idea to have a tertiary institution in South Sumatra has existed since the early 1950s, which was sparked at an occasion to celebrate Independence Day on August 17, 1952. Initiated by a number of community leaders, it was transformed into an agreement to form the "South Sumatra Faculty of Agriculture" . Towards the end of August 1952, with various considerations, it was determined that the first to be established was the faculty of economics. For this purpose a "South Sumatra Economic Faculty Committee" was formed which was managed by a foundation established on April 1, 1953 under the name "Syakhyakirti University Foundation". The official opening of the Faculty of Economics under the Syakhyakirti University Foundation was held on October 31, 1953 in an event attended by Mr. Hadi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Teaching and Culture Education (PPK), Drg. M. Isa (Governor of South Sumatra), Bambang Utoyo (Commander of TT II Sriwijaya) and Ali Gathmyr (Chair of South Sumatra DPRD). The effort to equip tertiary institutions in South Sumatra was continued by the Syakhyakirti College Foundation by forming the Organizing Committee for the Faculty of Law. On November 1, 1957, to coincide with the celebration of the IV Anniversary of the Faculty of Economics, the faculty was inaugurated under the name 'Faculty of Law and Public Knowledge ". The development was then continued with the assistance of Sriwijaya II Territorial Military Authority who provided financial assistance to establish permanent buildings..
