Institute for Sport and Social Justice (The Institute)

Professional Training and Coaching

Overview

At the Institute for Sport & Social Justice (The Institute), we believe in the transcendent power of sport to change the world. We unleash that power by educating, empowering, and inspiring individuals, organizations, and the global community to live their values in standing up for equity, inclusion, and social justice. Founded by civil rights icon and activist Dr. Richard Lapchick, the Institute has been an innovator in collegiate and professional sport organizations since its inception in 1985, and specializes in addressing the needs of high-profile groups. The Institute delivers training, technical assistance, research, and policy development focused on leadership, equity, and social justice. Inspired by Dr. Lapchick’s life and work, we seek to “stand up for justice and not block its path.” Huddle Up (HU) is the Institute for Sport & Social Justice’s (Institute) umbrella training program, addressing a wide range of issues relevant to sport organizations, including gender equity and violence (sexual assault, sexual harassment, gender construction, language), the full spectrum of diversity, equity, inclusion, & belonging (DEIB), and leadership development.
