Overview

ICOMOS Macedonia is an independent non-profit organization, whose membership consists of experts in the field of cultural heritage protection dedicated to strengthening the knowledge and skills of professionals in this field. ICOMOS Macedonia implements projects, organizes workshops and forums on specific professional topics for cultural properties, as well as trainings on state-of-the-art approaches in the protection and management of cultural heritage for professionals in the country, but also activities to raise awareness of the importance and values of cultural heritage for the wider public. The National Committee of ICOMOS Macedonia is a member of the International Council for Monuments and Sites ICOMOS, the largest and most important international organization in the field of cultural heritage, present in 151 countries with more than 10,000 expert members who act in its national and scientific committees. The focus of ICOMOS is on promoting the application of theory, methodology and scientific techniques for conservation of architectural and archaeological heritage. ICOMOS, as the official advisory body of UNESCO for the implementation of the World Heritage Convention, evaluates the nominations and advises on the condition of the properties inscribed on the World Heritage List.
