Overview

I-REACT is an innovation project funded by the European Commission comprising 20 partners from all around Europe. I-REACT has developed an integrated solution than ingests and models disaster-related data coming from multiple sources, directly helping three main stakeholders involved in the disaster management cycle: emergency responders, decision-makers and citizens. To present the best information available on the disaster situation to decision-makers, the project has developed the I-REACTOR: a Big Data computing system integrating information from European monitoring systems, earth observations, historical information and weather forecasts, among others. These sources are combined with data gathered by the new technological developments created by I-REACT, namely wearables to improve positioning of first-responders, augmented reality glasses that allow emergency responders to receive and send information and a professional mobile app to centralise all information. Finally, the project has also developed an app for citizens be informed in real-time and help monitor disaster situations by uploading geolocalised photos. The app is also equipped with many other functionalities that are progressively unlocked to advanced users.
