Overview

At Humble Sampler, we’re working to reduce inequality for food makers and emerging food business entrepreneurs. We work with people from different backgrounds to come together over their shared love of food, and we advocate for all food makers to be treated in the same dignified and capable manner. This is the result of a conscientious and careful research and development process over two years, with consultations with food makers, our partners, industry experts, and similar service providers to identify gaps for our work. We do this through: • Go-to-market support – We provide market access and visibility opportunities through our artisanal hampers to share the beautiful produce of the rising and thriving food makers in our network with even more people. Our hampers feature products by businesses that are owned and led by women, First Nations, people of colour, and other diverse backgrounds underrepresented in the food scene. • Direct support - our evidence-based model directly supports food makers that need it as they develop their business. Through our work we provide practical business skills, knowledge and tools, while also building supportive and empowering community and industry networks, strengthening the social capital of our members and the community in which we work. • Advisory – we look into the barriers preventing people to start or grow successful food businesses, especially for those who are disadvantaged due to their socioeconomic, cultural or ethnic backgrounds. We work with Councils and institutions to uncover the root causes, and refine their process and offering to reduce the barriers to entry. We'd love for you to share in our journey, as well as the journeys of the food makers that we support.
