Overview

Hultquist IP, formerly Intellectual Property/Technology Law (IPTL), was founded by Steven J. Hultquist in April, 1992. Our client base is diverse, ranging from universities and multinational corporations to start-up and emerging technology companies, in a wide range of technologies, including semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, chemistry, engineering materials, nanotechnology, medical devices, optoelectronics and business methods. Many of our client relationships span decades and countless interactions with administrative agencies, courts, and opposing counsel on their behalf. We have seen clients grow from a few founding entrepreneurs to being listed on major stock exchanges. Hultquist IP is engaged in worldwide patent and trademark registration, and maintains relationships with law firms in all countries of interest to our clients. Our attorneys provide a range of client counseling services, including strategically focused assessments of research, development and commercialization efforts, patent invalidity, non-infringement, and design-around opinions, product clearances, inventorship determinations, and budgetary and planning input. Hultquist IP also engages in intellectual property-related transactional work, and provides counsel and expert witness services in contested matters. Our transactional work is widely varied, and includes negotiating and preparing agreements related to intellectual property, such as licensing, technology transfer, joint venture and other collaboration agreements, intellectual property valuations, and due diligence reviews. Our firm has litigated in state and federal court proceedings, provided expert witness testimony, been involved in interference, reissue and reexamination proceedings, argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and submitted briefs to the United States Supreme Court. Hultquist IP is proud of our accomplishments and those of our clients.
