The family lodging tradition started in 1958 with a 19-room motel and has now evolved into 7 hotels (650 guest rooms), 3 restaurants, and 2 sightseeing operations located in the historic French Quarter, the old Southern Railway Station, the Central Business District, and Uptown New Orleans. 3 new hotel projects are in the works. The Place d’Armes Hotel at Jackson Square is the most historic of the hotels, with 7 separate buildings (oldest circa 1890) surrounding a lush courtyard and swimming pool. The Hotel St. Marie, Prince Conti Hotel and French Market Inn are additional French Quarter locations just off Bourbon St. and the Mississippi River. The newest Brakeman Hotel is located on the edge of the French Quarter at Basin St. Station, the old Southern Railway building.
