Overview

HOCKEY IS DIVERSITY e.V. is a Non-Profit Organization. Our objective is to use the sport of hockey and sportsmanship of the game to fight racism, raise awareness, prompt dialogue and promote diversity and inclusion for both fans and players. We champion the definition of diversity to include a fuller spectrum as well as the development of inclusivity to involve those typically underserved by hockey. The problem we are trying to solve is to broaden the audience and participants (players, coaches, referees, and other key stakeholders) so that it better reflects our increasingly diverse country and communities within it. We have branded hashtags #HockeyisDiversity, #CheckRacismOutofHockey and #OnThisDay to promote events, prompt dialogue and share narratives that tie into larger cultural moments such as recounting previously unknown stories of East German players and coaches as we approach the 30th anniversary of the Fall of the Wall. Hockey is Diversity e.V. was founded by the first former Korean-German player in the German Elite League (DEL) Dr. Martin Hyun (Krefeld Pinguine) and Peter Goldbach in 2010.
