Overview

Hołdzilei Hiking Strong, LLC. is a Diné woman-led and 100% Navajo/Native owned and operated backpacking/hiking company, with a gear design and production component under the philosophy that encompasses the Navajo holistic view of land and stewardship. Like most Navajo words, Hołdzilei has no one translation to English, but many translations in Navajo. All of which relate to being, doing and establishing strength. In the word lies the root word, dzi or dzih, which translates to breathe, breathing, life, living. Another root word is dził which translates most commonly to mountain; strong foundation. Another word you can derive from Hołdzilei is shidziil, bidziil, nihizhiil, which translates to I am strong, she/he is strong, we are strong. Hołdzilei encompasses all of what we represent and who we strive to be, determined, strong, resilient, sacred five fingered beings. Through our company we will provide the following: -Educate our clients on land stewardship through Diné perspectives -Connect or reconnect clients to the land and to all living things -Inspire our clients to appreciate the beauty of the land -Instill in our clients a glimpse of Diné Bikeyáh; an experience only found within our four sacred mountains.
