Overview

The Federation of Hong Kong and Kowloon Labour Unions (abbreviated as HKFLU) was established in November 1984. It is a registered trade union federation. It has always adopted an independent, balanced and pragmatic approach to organizing associations. So far, it has 106 member associations and 16 sponsored associations. Joined, the overall membership exceeds 90,000. "Unite the workers and strive for reasonable rights. Participate in democratic reforms and promote social prosperity." is the consistent aim of the HKFLU. HKFLU is committed to safeguarding labor rights, and has promoted rights protection for many years. It has promoted the improvement of labor policies in the Labor Advisory Committee and other consultative committees; it pays attention to the situation of grassroots families, and uses the mass media to reflect citizens' demands to the relevant authorities in a timely manner; actively participates in regional work, Its offices and affiliated organizations provide a variety of community services; participate in the elections of the Legislative Council, District Councils and the Labor Advisory Committee, among which representatives are elected, and they are also sent to vote in the Chief Executive election to promote the development of Hong Kong's political system through participation in and discussion of politics. HKFLU covers the mechanical and electrical, manufacturing, catering, transportation, medical care, education, retail and personal service industries. Workers from all industries are welcome to join the labor union to jointly strengthen the unity of the workers. In addition, the affiliates of the HKFLU also provide a number of cultural and recreational activities and membership benefits. Unemployed and retirees are welcome to participate.
