Overview

The Historical Society of Marshall County, Iowa was founded 1908 to preserve and share our rich local history. We preserve and manage four historical properties: the Glick-Sower Historical Homestead, Taylor #4 Country School, Matthew Edel Blacksmith Shop, and the Mowry Irvine Mansion. We invite you to visit and let us share our sites, collection, and library. We look forward to sharing our knowledge of Marshall County history and helping with historical and genealogical research. We are open to the public both during weekdays at the Mowry Irvine Mansion & Frances Rhoades Williams Research Library, 503 West Main Street, Marshalltown, IA, and other times by appointment. Please call in advance of your visit to ensure we are open. The Mowry Irvine Mansion is also available for private events.
