Overview

Dr. Ling Wong is Founder and General Partner of Highbury Group and Sea Lane Ventures. Science driven by purpose. That’s the motto that has guided Ling throughout her career and her pursuit of the change she strives to help realize for humanity. Ling has long been inspired by the imperative to meet society’s greatest challenges with new technologies and new approaches to tackling the most intractable areas of science. Her journey began in the MIT Langer Lab developing new technologies to improve the delivery of treatments to patients. That work led to her pursuing a PhD at Harvard, where she invented the world’s first inhaled TB vaccine. Ling became inspired by the impact she could have through being a true partner and champion to entrepreneurs, using science and technology to build companies that can improve human health and better humanity in lasting ways. This led her to found Highbury Group in 2013, and where she invests in innovations toward a better future. Through Highbury Group and in other roles, Ling have been involved in significant investments and exits. She has partnered with more than fifteen $1B+ companies, including: Devoted Health, Apeel, Shape, Stripe, and Notion. Notable exits she has been involved in include: Anacor Pharmaceuticals (acquired by Pfizer for $5.2B), Genocea Biosciences (NASDAQ: GNCA), Visterra (acquired for $430M), Slack (acquired Salesforce $27.7B), Guardant Health (NASDAQ: GH), and Singular Genomics (NASDAQ: OMIC). Ling loves partnering with mission-oriented founders working on transformational ideas that can have a positive, lasting impact on society.
